Dethatching

We remove the layer of dead grass and organic matter (thatch) that can build up on your lawn’s surface. Too much thatch can suffocate your grass and prevent it from thriving. Dethatching allows your lawn to breathe again!

Included every time

  • Thatch and moss lifted instead of just mowed shorter

Our process

How a dethatching visit runs

  1. 01

    Check the thatch

We pull a small plug or look at the crown. A half-inch of thatch is normal. Much more than that, or a moss mat you can peel, and dethatching is worth it.

  2. 02

    Rake it out

Power rake or verticut in overlapping passes, then a second pass on the worst areas. The lawn will look rough for a week — that is the job working.

  3. 03

    Haul and follow up

The pile leaves with us. This is the moment to aerate, overseed and lime so the open soil fills with grass instead of more moss.
