How tall a wall can you build?

Most residential walls we build are under four feet. Taller walls, or anything holding a driveway or a structure, often need an engineer and a permit. We will tell you that on the first visit instead of guessing on site.

Why do retaining walls fail here?

Water. Our rain loads the soil behind a wall all winter. Walls without drain rock and a pipe behind them bulge, lean and then go. The drainage is not optional.

Can you build a wall and put a patio or lawn above it?

Yes. We often quote the wall with finish grade, a paver landing or turf on top so you are not hiring a second crew to make the space usable.

How a retaining wall installation visit runs

Look at the grade
Height, soil, water and what sits above the wall decide the build. We flag anything that needs an engineer or a permit before anyone digs.

Excavate and set the base
Trench, compact a gravel base, and set the first course dead level. Drain rock and pipe go in behind the wall, not as an afterthought.

Stack, backfill and finish
Courses stacked, geogrid where the height needs it, then backfill and grade so water moves away instead of through the face.
